Attenborough Nature Reserve – Water Source Heat Pump Installation
Overview
Attenborough Nature Reserve is a renowned conservation site in Nottinghamshire, made up of flooded former gravel pits and islands. It provides an exceptional habitat for birds, aquatic species, and a wide range of wildlife, making it a key site for biodiversity and environmental education.
Challenge
The reserve previously relied on a 20-year-old water source heat pump, which had become outdated and inefficient. The goal was to introduce a modern, sustainable heating solution that could serve the facility’s needs while maintaining harmony with the surrounding natural environment.
Solutions
Piped Up Ltd installed a new water source heat pump, designed to extract renewable energy directly from the site’s water bodies. This modern system provides efficient, low-carbon heating to the buildings while preserving the reserve’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
By updating the technology but retaining the same renewable principle, the project offered a seamless upgrade with minimal environmental impact.
