Weleda Health & Wellbeing – Solar Energy System Installation
Overview
Weleda is a world-leading manufacturer of natural health and wellbeing products, known for its commitment to organic cultivation and sustainable practices. As part of their global environmental goals, Weleda is taking steps to significantly reduce their carbon footprint and operate more sustainably across all facilities.
Challenge
Weleda’s target is to become carbon neutral by 2028. To achieve this, their UK operations required a significant shift toward on-site renewable energy generation, with minimal disruption to day-to-day manufacturing processes.
Solutions
The project was split into two phases to align with the client’s operational expansion and long-term energy goals:
Phase - 1
Piped Up Ltd installed 175 high-efficiency solar panels in just one week, delivering a 70kW peak system. This initial installation now powers the entire building, backed by a smart energy monitoring system that tracks generation and usage in real time. Based on performance data, this phase is projected to achieve full payback within four years.
Phase - 2
As Weleda relocates its manufacturing facility to the UK, we will install a further 445 solar panels, increasing capacity to 178kW peak. This will futureproof their energy supply and bring the company significantly closer to its net-zero target.
Timescale
The project was split into two phases to align with the client’s operational expansion and long-term energy goals:
-
Phase 1
1 week from installation start to completion
-
Phase 2
Planned alongside Weleda’s UK manufacturing relocation schedule (forthcoming)
